Neal DeVore will be teaching our February class on Natural Edge Bowls. This class is for beginner to intermediate students. You must have turned a bowl or two and be familiar with the use of a bowl gouge. The procedures include:
1. Prepare the blank and design considerations
2. Mount the blank between centers using 4 prong drive center (although two prong is preferred)
3. Turn the outside shape using bevel rubbing techniques. Prepare a 55mm tenon
4. Reverse the blank and place in 4 jaw chuck.
5. Using bevel rubbing techniques remove the interior wood using a penetrating or plunging cut in steps. Inside shape to match the outside
6.. Sand and remove the tenon.
Wood will be provided. You can bring your own 3/8 to 1/2" bowl gouge or use the club's tools.
