The

Each month on the 4th Tuesday at 6:30 pm we have a monthly meeting (except November and December). We have a demonstration on woodturning and "show and tell" where members share what they have been working on. There is also plenty of good company.
For the July meeting our own Nick Matley will be demonstrating. If you have been to a meeting in the last couple of months you have surely seen the patina effect that Nick has been adding to his pieces. He’s going to not only do a demo and answer questions this month, but he will also be doing a hands on mini workshop for members!! It is limited to about 30 pieces/people (so sign up if you want a spot.
You will need to bring 2 bowls (one to work on and one to donate to empty bowls – or donate the one you work on that night?!) These products also stain so dress appropriately and consider an apron.
About the process: Create a variety of effects and when dry, the surface will appear and feel like a metal surface. This is not a faux finish; it is a versatile, real metal coating. The particles will immediately start to oxidize, creating amazing real metal effects. As the solution dries, the patina will develop. Once the desired effect is achieved, remove excess moisture with a paper towel, hair dryer or fan. The metals will continue to oxidize as long as they are exposed to water or oxidizing liquids!
No need to sign up, just come to the Veterans Hall. Bring something you've turned to share with the group. You can also bring items to donate to the Raffle if you have something in your shop you don't need anymore.
The President's Challenge this month is to make a tiny turning. The finished piece should be no more than 2x2x2 inches.
Hope to see you there!
