Take a break from serious turning and turn a SPLIT BOWL. Rollie Bowns will show the process at the August meeting. If you have a lathe, a bandsaw (a handsaw could do in a pinch), and some turning tools, you are all set to turn split bowls. No additional expensive special tools or jigs are needed. Simply put, turn a bowl, cut it in half, and glue the rims together to make a different bowl. Rollie will discuss the procedure and some things you should consider when turning the bowl. He and will have samples and completed split bowls to show and to pass around as we look at the possibilities.
